The Greater Manchester Good Employment Charter has announced eight new Members this quarter.

The Leader of Manchester City Council, Bev Craig, expressed her appreciation to all Supporters and Members for their commitment to good employment practices despite the challenges of the past year.

New members are:

To progress from Supporter to Member, employers must undergo an assessment and technical panel review to ensure they meet the Charter's seven characteristics of Good Employment. The Charter's goal is to improve employment standards throughout Greater Manchester and contribute to a thriving economy. Employers can start their journey with the Charter as a Supporter, with resources and support available to help them improve their practices.

"Good Employment practices have been a huge part of our business since we began in 1993 and we’re delighted to have been accepted into the Charter. Now a family business in our second generation and navigating some challenging economic times, I believe it’s more important than ever to be delivering on best possible employment practice."

Tom Fletcher, Managing Director

“Hawkley Brook Medical practice is extremely proud to be the first healthcare organisation in Greater Manchester to be a Member of the Good Employment Charter. Being an excellent GP practice is about looking after our practice team as well as our patients. We hope this will inspire other organisations in health and social care to do follow suit in becoming members of the charter. We look forward to working with other organisations, including those outside the healthcare setting, to share learning, innovation and best practice as part of the Good Employment Charter community.”

“Our membership demonstrates our commitment in supporting the movement to make our workplaces fairer, happier and more inclusive, which aligns seamlessly with our organisation's vision and values. Achieving recognition for our good employment efforts and representing the construction industry as a thriving place to work is a real honour for us and we're looking forward to celebrating this success with the Charter in June.”

Phil Shaw, Divisional Director of Tilbury Douglas

“We are so pleased to become a Member of the Charter and to be recognised for our commitment to continue striving to support and develop our people and culture and to keep Carrs Pasties a great place to work. We know how hard it is to reach GEC membership status so we’re really proud that we’ve achieved this and look forward to continuing the journey.”

Sara Carr, HR Manager at Carrs Pasties

“As a charity that supports young people in Greater Manchester to find the right career path for them, we are proud to become a Member of the Greater Manchester Good Employment Charter. Being a member highlights our own commitment as an employer to providing flexible, fairly-paid work, with opportunities for learning and development and a focus on work-life balance and wellbeing. Putting employee welfare at the heart of what we do brings benefits for our people, our charity and the communities that we serve.”
